WHO WE ARE
“ECDC", is a community-based (501©3) nonprofit organization that was established in 2017 to serve the greater Rockaway community, including Edgemere and Arverne.
Through various partnerships, ECDC plans and facilitates a wide range of community revitalization initiatives, strengthening the Rockaway and its economically and culturally deprived communities. ECDC helps this diverse and needy community access opportunities and assist residents realize their dreams through a combination of counseling, housing, economic development, and youth-centered initiatives

The Edgemere CDC's mission is to empower and support community members in their efforts to revitalize their neighborhoods and mobilize resources to address the myriad of challenges with which the Edgemere Community in particular and the Far Rockaway Community at-large are confronted with.

OUR HISTORY
ECDC was formed in 2017 through the instrumentality of Full Gospel Tabernacle of Edgemere as a result of growing concerns over the myriad of social ills in the Far Rockaway Communities of Edgemere, Averne and the surrounding neighborhoods including youth delinquency, low educational standards, crime, recidivism, homelessness, economic decline and many more. Additionally, there are many new developments coming to the Rockaways, and ECDC wants to ensure that community residents are part and parcel of these new developments and not looking in from the outside. Plus, ECDC is helping a steady stream of new residents including immigrants to assimilate into the neighborhood and larger community.
